Rubber mats

Rubber mats — vapourproof insulation for air conditioning and refrigeration
Rubber mats are flexible insulation from closed cell foam (FEF). The built-in vapour-tight barrier prevents the condensation of water vapour on cold surfaces, making the material suitable for freon, ice water, air conditioning ducts and cold water pipes. The offer includes mats in rolls – self-adhesive and glue-free, black and aluminium cladding.
Technical parameters
- heat conduction factor: approx. 0,033–0.036 W/(m·K) at 0 °C,
- Water vapour diffusion resistance μ: ≥ 5,000
- operating temperature range: approx. −50 °C to +105 °C,
- reaction to fire: BL-s3,d0 / CL-s3,d0 according to EN 13501-1,
- thicknesses available: 6, 9, 13, 19, 25, 32 and 50 mm,
- closed cell structure – lack of saturation, high flexibility.
Application
Refrigeration and Freon installations, ice water pipelines, ventilation and air conditioning ducts, cold water ducts exposed to condensation, acoustic insulation of channels and tanks. Larger thickness mats are also used on warm installations up to +105 °C.
How to Choose Thickness
The thickness for cold installations is selected from the non-condensing condition – the factor temperature, temperature and relative humidity of the environment determine. In practice: freon pipes split and multisplit 9–13 mm, ice water 19–32 mm, high humidity rooms and external routes – larger thicknesses. In warm installations, minimum thicknesses are defined by the WT Regulation.
Edit
- the surface must be clean, dry and defatted after a leak test,
- all front and longitudinal joints with rubber contact adhesive – also in adhesive mats,
- do not squeeze the material under the covers; use insulating support,
- outside the building protect UV insulation: paint coating, sheet coat or aluminium lining version.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a self-adhesive mat require extra glue?
The adhesive layer attaches the mat to the ground, but the connector should be additionally glued with contact glue. That's the only way to keep the vapour-tight barrier going.
Can rubber mats be mounted outside?
Yes, provided UV protection. Aluminium mats, sheet coat or dedicated painting coating are used – the foam hardens and cracks without protection.
Mat or rubber wrap?
Otulins are more comfortable on pipes with small diameters and straight sections. Mats are used on large diameters, channels, knees, tanks and flat surfaces – wherever it is necessary to cut material to size.
