Ventilation grilles, anemostats and air vents

The vent is end of installation – element through which air flows into or leaves the room. It determines the actual air stream, whether the air is blowing people's neck, and as the only piece of the system is visible inside. In this category you will find over 180 items: round and square ceiling anemostats, air and exhaust valves, 595×595, steel, aluminum and PVC grates, SPIRO pipe grates, Higro grates, intake and wall launchers, air vents, window and slot air vents, feedback flaps, self-locking shutters and inspection doors. Prices from 9,60 PLN, shipping from a warehouse in Kielce.

Crate, anemostat or valve – what are the differences?

That's the most common question in this category. The grill has blinds and directs the stream to the chosen direction – it is usually mounted on a wall or in a canal. Anemostat distributes the air radially, by sticking a stream to the ceiling, so the air is mixed with the air in the room without feeling a within. The valve (plate) is the simplest form of anemostat – adjustment is achieved by twisting the middle plate, making it obvious in home recuperation. Practical rule: ceiling and ventilation in the utility room – an anemostat or valve; wall, channel, directional air discharge – grate.

What to choose for a specific place?

Place or Task Relevant product Why this
Ventilation and exhaust in domestic recuperation Ventilation or exhaust valve fi 100–250 Liquid flow adjustment by turning the plate, price from several zlotys
Ventilation in the living room and bedroom without feeling a snort Anemostat ASV or ASKV fi 100–160, white or black Spreads air along the ceiling; two color variants under arrangement
Suspended ceiling in office or service premises Anemostat ASN HB40 from 295×295 to 595×595 mm or cranberry centrifuge anemostat Dimensions under modular ceiling raster, whirlpool provides intensive mixing
Air quantity control channel Round anemostat with throttle NCD CA fi 150–350 Built-in throttle allows to adjust the installation without interfering with the channel
Inlet and outlet of air through the outer wall Photocopier or wall launcher The blind profile protects against rain, insect and rodent grid
Bringing air to a sealed apartment Window vent, wall vent or Higro grate Without air, exhaust ventilation will not work; hygro-controlled versions react to humidity
Exhaust at chimney vertical Ventilation grille, if necessary with feedback flap The flap prevents the air from moving from the channel to the room
SPIRO pipe on the wall Spiro SGD pipe grate, galvanized steel Profile adapted to round channel – without extrasing transitions
Service access to the installation in the building Audit doors Allow cleaning and inspection without undressing the ceiling

How much air do you need to remove from the room?

The reference point for housing are streams from standard PN-83/B-03430 with amendment of Az3:

Room Blowing stream
Kitchen with window, gas or coal stove 70 m3/h
Kitchen without window, electric stove 50 m3/h
Bathroom (with or without toilet) 50 m3/h
Separate WC 30 m3/h
Auxiliary room without window 15 m3/h

Values apply to apartments and represent a minimum – in the kitchen with window and stove, the electric stream depends additionally on the number of inhabitants. For service and industrial facilities, separate design assumptions are adopted.

Note the effective surface

The outer dimension of the grid is not the same as the cross section, which actually flows air. The blinds, frame and insect net can reduce the active section to half the nominal dimension. Therefore, the grate selected "on the contact" to the canal chokes the installation and increases the flow speed and with it noise. Practical rule: select the grate with a supply relative to the channel section, and if the manufacturer gives the active surface – follow this value, not the housing dimension.

Installation and operation – 5 principles

  • Don't ever seal the vent. This is the most common cause of moisture and mold in the bathroom – if it blows cold, the problem is the lack of air, not the excess exhaust.
  • Blow mount high, near the ceilingIn the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The air vent goes to the rooms and bedrooms.
  • Ensure flow between rooms – cutting a door or a door grate; without this, the air will not reach the exhaust room.
  • Choose material, aluminum or stainless steel for moist interiors. The galvanized steel will work in dry and technical rooms.
  • Wash the grates while cleaning. The dust layer on the blinds actually reduces the active section and ventilation efficiency.

Complete Installation

You can pick up the rest of the system in the grids and the anemostats: ventilation ducts, Rosettes, flexible wires, bathroom fans, recuperators and assembly straps.

Most common questions about ventilation grates

How is an anemostat different from a ventilation grate?

Anemostat distributes the air radiatively along the ceiling, so the air is mixed with the air in the room without feeling a gust. The grate has blinds and directs the stream in the chosen direction – it is used mainly on walls and canals.

What kind of grate do you want in the bathroom?

Moist resistant – plastic, aluminium or stainless steel. If there is a backlash in the channel, select the return flap version, and consider a hygro-controlled grid with moisture problems.

Can you cover the ventilation grid when it pulls cold?

Nope. Closure of the grate stops the air exchange and leads to moisture and mold, and with fuel burning devices it is extremely dangerous. The cooling sensation is solved by order of the air, such as hygrostered air vents.

How do you figure out the size of a grate into a canal?

Guide the active surface rather than the housing dimension – blinds and grid reduce the cross section through which air actually flows. The grate is matched with a supply relative to the channel section so as not to increase the flow rate and noise level.

Do you need grids?

Yes, with unusual openings, renovations in old construction and architectural designs, where the commercial dimension does not fit. The dimension design also allows you to adjust the color and type of steering wheel.
